Our Minister is Reverend Alan Jenkins

Reverend Alan Jenkins
39 New Town Road
Essex   CO1 2EF

Describing himself as “Technically an Essex Boy”, Alan was born in Leyton E10, (now part of London), but
the Registrar of Births stating at the time “Leyton, South West Essex”.  He grew up in Chingford.

He has been in ministry since 1989, and ministered in Barking & Ilford Circuit, (London North East),
Liskeard & Looe Circuit, (Cornwall), Nene Valley Circuit, (Oxford & Leicester), West Bromwich Circuit, (Birmingham),
and Pembrokeshire Circuit, (Wales).

Before entering the ministry he worked for London Transport for a number of years, though
states he has never driven a bus or a train.  (It is not clear whether that is relief or regret!!)

Married to Janet, a Deacon stationed next door in the Tendring Circuit, they have three children, Thomas,
Anna and Philip, who are all married and living in the Midlands.  They also have four grandchildren.

He loves to read thrillers, science fiction, and historical novels.  He also plays guitar, sings in a
group, and likes most forms of music, except perhaps jazz of any kind.

Still owning a 900cc motorbike, he is an enthusiastic golfer, swimmer, and loves watching football.
Growing up in North London he supports the only ‘proper team’ in North London, Tottenham Hotspur.

He also writes liturgy, sketches, meditations, hymns and songs for performance
in churches, and has published two books under a pseudonym.
